Join us January 9th for the first annual Hardwater snowshoe race. No need to fight the 1-70 ski traffic for a difficult winter event. These races are 11 mile and 30K snowshoe races on marked courses with an aid station at 5.5 miles for both and 12.5 miles for the 30K.
Check-in/Start: Racers will rendezvous at the Nederland Community Center for registration and race number pick-up and move to the race start to jump out of the cars and begin racing. There will be restrooms at the start. The race will begin at the south parking lot of the Sourdough Trail near the CU Research Center. Racers will head north to the aid station at the Brainard Lake Rd. There, 11 milers will turn around and go back the way they came while 30K snowshoers will continue across the road and do a lollipop style out and back. This is intended to be a difficult and fun event, any and all plans can change due to conditions for runner's safety. Snowshoes will be required unless race officials decide that shoes with traction will be permitted due to trail conditions (this will be decided on race day). This is a difficult race, know your abilities, carry extra food, water and clothing.
Awards: First place male and female in both distances will receive a free pair of Vasque Aether Tech or Aether Tech SS with Boa Technology lacing system.
Cut-offs:
1.Aid #1 - 2.5 hours
TO TRAILHEAD FROM BOULDER: Head west on CO 119/Boulder Canyon Dr. for approximately 15 miles to Nederland. Take the second exit from the traffic circle, heading north on CO 72/Peak to Peak Highway. Continue 7.1 miles and turn left on CR 116, heading toward the Mountain Research Center. Trailhead parking is 0.5 mile down the road on left.
