Moab 100
Register online or download a PDF 7:00 am start Race day registration is available for an additional $10 Experience the beautiful desert landscape of Moab, Utah while testing your own personal limits. From the immense canyons with 1000 foot walls to the beautiful La Sal mountains the town of Moab lies in the midst of it all. Photographers and artists flock to this area for it's natural beauty while endurance athletes are drawn to the relatively easy access to the remote locations. With an average high of 68 F and an average low of 38 F this is a truly amazing location for a 100 mile race. This year's race will be run on the beautiful Monitor and Merrimac trail 16 miles north of Moab. Racers will run 6 mile laps with approximately 7000' of climbing, this race allows 30 hours to finish. All runners who do not complete the course in the allotted time will automatically be entered into the 24 Hours of Utah...the Run solo category and will be given an official distance. Hot food will be available during the cool night and there will be an umanned water station approximately halfway through the loop to help runners enjoy the rugged trails and view the beautiful canyons below. This is one of the most family friendly 100 mile races around. Located approximately 20 minutes from town, family and friends are able to support their racer every hour or go into town for a break and visit many of the sites Moab has to offer. Directions: Drive approximately 16 miles north on Highway 191. Just after highway mile marker 141, turn left onto Mill Creek Road, a dirt road that immediately crosses railroad tracks. Drive about 1 mile up the road passing the trailhead on the right. The base Camp will be on the right side of the road. .Awards/Check in: Awards will be awarded to the 1st-3rd place males and 1st-3rd place females and finisher's medals. Awards will be immediately following the last finisher. All racers who decide not to complete the 100 miles and stop before 24 hours get an official 24 Hours of Utah time. All racers must check in at the start of the race and at the end of each lap. Registration: Early (until March 1) $110 Standard $130 Race Day $140 Weekend Schedule Saturday: 5:00-6:30 am - race day registration, packet pick-up 6:45 am - pre race meeting – mandatory 7:00 am - race begins Sunday: 1:00 pm - last lap must be completed 1:15 pm - awards ceremony/post-race party We will provide hot food throughout the night and Hammer Gel and Hammer Heed/water at Base Camp. Pre Race procedures Each racer must check in at the Base Camp no later than 20 minutes prior to the start of the race and attend the pre-race meeting unless management is notified beforehand. GENERAL RULES Pacers Pacers are allowed after 8:00 p.m. All pacers must register at the registration table and will receive a number and aid station privileges. Pre-race Meeting Racers must attend the pre-race meeting. Recording Laps Racers must log-in on each lap at the Base Camp located at the Start/Finish area. There will be a running clock, therefore the lap splits will run from lap-end time to lap-end time. It is the racer’s responsibility to verify that you are logged-in correctly. You must clearly state your number and wait until the race official acknowledges that your time and number are recorded correctly. Aid Water and food may be supplied to any racer, by anyone, anywhere on the course. However, racers must stay well clear of the course when taking food or water. A strict Leave No Trace policy will be implemented. Race management will supply an aid station with water halfway through the course. Bib Number Racers must display their race numbers at all times. Local Laws Federal, state and county laws and ordinances must be followed at all times. Staying on course While running a lap, racers must stay on the designated course. Any racer that goes off the designated course (i.e. shortcutting) will result in a disqualification. Protests Official protests must be made directly to the Race Director. Race Director The race director has the final say in any ruling, including rulings made by the co-director. Quiet Hours Quiet hours at night, will be imposed from 11:00 p.m. Saturday until 6:00 a.m. Sunday. During this time, noise must be kept to a minimum but the fun will continue. Running after dark Racers entering the course two hours before sunset on Saturday and up to one-half hour before sunrise on Sunday must carry a light source and it must be in good working order. Racing with lights out is permitted but all runners must have some sort of lighting affixed to the outside of their clothing (i.e. glow stick). .Canceling a lap Runners have the option to cancel a partial lap once it has started. Racers must notify the Base Camp that they have quit the lap and log-in and start at the Base Camp. The canceled lap does not count as a completed lap and racers must start the new lap from the beginning. Finish/Awards Racers must complete his/her last lap by 1:00 p.m. The awards ceremony will begin promptly at 1:15 p.m. 24 Hours solo runners will not be entered into the 100 standings. Unforeseeable circumstances In the case of unforeseeable circumstances due to weather or other extenuating circumstances that prevents the safe continuation the race, race officials may end the race at any given time. This rule will be implemented in the most extreme cases for the safety of runners or officials.
